Hello! I am Antonio, and on this week 3, I have the role of Analyst, so let's begin.😎
First of all, I would like to start talking with our team's final reflection, in which is specified in the next couple of questions:
The best part of the activity was the main fact of developing the comic. In our case, we selected the format of comic called photo novel, which has been a good starting point because it has allowed us to develop funny situations! We have discovered a lot of online resources wich we can use on our advantage, and of course developing a comic is a fun part, especially if you know how to create all kind of different situations in a story with remarkable characters.
Nevertheless, the worst part was obviously related to all the part of adjusting information to a photo novel, The main activity was to relate a pdf of Cheryl Lemke that talks about innovation through technology to a photo novel, which for an obvious reason, it has been pretty confusing and difficult, because we were concerned that some information will be excluded because of the need of space in the novel, furthermore, it takes a lot of time processing all the information into small lines of dialogue and even more than that, the key part was to create a fun story but containing all the key elements of the text, and let me tell you that that was not an easy task, but we successfully do it on time.
On the other hand, the best and most remarkable moment was when we were making the photonovel and figuring out how to illustrate the information, because especially the men of the group, Santi, Juan and me, figured out some funny and dumb ways to make the photonovel serious, but also funny and remarkable. However, I need to mention that also the girls of the group , Elena, Cristina, Gema and Maria apported some essential pieces of information which were of great help, and with the combination of our efforts as a team, we made a remarkable task.
But everything wasn't fairies and butterflies. The worst part was the final one, in which we needed to adjust all the final details in order to adjust all the information and images, so that the final project of the photonovel was understandable and clearly visible to everyone. This means our the photonovel has its own characteristics and curiosities which makes it remarkable and differentiates it from other styles like manga. This means that recreating the essence of a photonovel was the worst part by far, because we are not artists, but we tried our best to recreate the same feeling that everyone has when when they read a photo novel,
Regarding our learning, almost everything we have learnt this week comes from the text of Cheryl Lemke, which talks about innovation through technology. The most important things that we learned is the 3 main innovations of the technology that can help us.
First one is Visualization, which is applying visuals to the process of knowledge using techniques for studying, such as underlining or knowing how to differentiate the important content from the one that is not using different criterias that helps the student to differentiate, some examples can be letter height or the color distribution. Moreover, we also knew some applinces visualization had to improve children's lives, for example we discovered Don´t buy it, a section developed by PBS Kids and KCTS TV in order to raise awareness about digital manipulation so children know about it. Moreover, the importance of developing and critic and cretive thinking in children was alse remarkable. To do so, Lemke presents Gapminder, a website used by teachers and students to egage in authentic investigations of open-ended questions from a wide vaiety of topics using real data.
The second one is Democratization of knowledge. We need to take into account, not only the formal ways of learning; but also the informal ones. Educators should be actively considering how to extend the formal learning, but also to become sufficiently familiar with the informal learning students are actively engaged outside the school. It includes concepts that we have learned, for example we know that the learning objects, which are normally digital resources, can be used to support the learning.
The last one is Participatory learning. Schools nowadays are focused on individual acquisition despite the fact of other emerging strategies like participatory learning. This can be reinterpreted like a need to restructure the learning, teaching and assessment to increasingly emphasize and value the participation in groups and the creation of knowledge in addition to the individual acquisition of knowledge.
Something that our group has is the feeling of belonging, which means that everyone feels part of the group and, as such, it creates an environment in which we work as hard as we can and we motivate each othe in order to complete everything on time. We help each other out, and that helps to maintain the essence of motivation, which is a huge advantage for the main reason that we feel safe and motivated against everything, all thanks to the feeling of belonging which is essential in our group to conserve in order to maintain a good learning environment between us during the different weeks of this subject.
One obvious disadvantage of our team that we need to improve is the fact of communication, by that I mean that we need to communicate more, better and specify our problems, because we have the feeling of belonging which make us comfortable, but we need to talk even more between us, that means that we need to communicate more and one example is the fact that on the first session of this third week of our online classes we were reading the pdf of the task, but we need to appreciate more the time, and take into account the moments that we can be all together because in those moments we can communicate our main worries and problems and with the help of everyone of the team we can solve it, which means that the main characteristic that we need to improve is the fact of communicate even more than what we do usually, but i believe that with the pass of the days we will solve it.
Some parts are actively related to the role of educators and the degree, the whole text gives us hints to implement in our teaching, these hints helps us to understand and value more the formal and also the informal ways of teaching in which we need to be familiarized in order to improve our teaching in the future.
Furthermore some parts of information are related to other subjects like (Tutorial Action and investigation), in both subjects, Tutorial action and Resources and ICT we study the importance of being a good tutor but most importantly the resources we can use as an educator ro improve the learning,
This week's content is obvioust socially conected, in fact almost everywhere, nowadays with the reality of Coronavirus, technology has been a huge tool to take into account. Furthermore, the innovation through technology is obvious, and in fact nowadays we are having the perfect example of it, especially in the field of education, where the innovation in the technology is evident, we have the example of the online courses and online classes which has been part of our daily routine for us the students. But not only in the field of education the innovation through technology has been made, in fact almost in every aspect technology has influenced us but also helped us with the actual situation of global pandemic, and we can appreciate it because it is almost in every field, politics, news, etc.
To conclude I must say that this week has been a pleasure to learn new things and also the environment of working between the teammates has been remarkable, everyone followed their assigned role and completed the task on time, all that can be summarized in the fact that everyone in the group worked as hard as they can.
